Vote for Healthcare
This letter to the editor, by Everett Fuchs, appeared in the Hudson Star Observer on October 3, 2024.
As an 82-year-old cancer survivor, I understand that without good health nothing else matters. That is why I am downright disgusted with my representatives who want to cut benefits for Medicare and Obamacare, who want to cut off reproductive health care for women, who oppose lowering costs for prescription drugs and for those in the Wisconsin Legislature who have blocked the release of funds to save rural hospitals.
Locally, we have two candidates for the Wisconsin Assembly who are proven healthcare professionals with a proven record of bringing quality healthcare to western Wisconsin. Alison Page as CEO of Western Wisconsin Health and Danielle Johnson as Chair of the Board of Directors developed a first-class medical facility in Baldwin. I have been a patient at both Western Wisconsin Health and Mayo Clinic and at Western Wisconsin Health I received Mayo Clinic-esque care. Alison, as a nurse and administrator and Danielle, as a veterinarian and clinic owner, understand health care, administration and service. They will take their expertise, talents and problem-solving abilities to Madison and be strong advocates for high-quality health care.
Health care is a personal right and a governmental responsibility in my opinion. Health care is not a red or a blue issue, it is a personal and a family issue. A vote for Danielle or Alison will not be a party vote. Instead, it will be a vote for quality health care for you and your family.
