Is Trump for America?

This letter to the editor, by Mary McGurran, appeared in the Hudson Star Observer on February 6, 2025.

In week one, President Trump and his administration threatened the American people, religious leaders and private companies for values of fairness and mercy. On Jan. 24 the President ended economic, educational and other affirmative action programs in the federal government with some agency heads calling programs to support gender, racial and ethnic fairness “shameful.” The President’s order extended past the federal government and ordered his “agencies to draw up lists of public companies to investigate over their DEI policies.” On Jan. 25 the Star Tribune reported Target retreated from their DEI goals. The President ordered his administration to misuse the Justice system to bully private companies to stop supporting inclusion for all Americans in our educational, and economic systems.

Please consider if this is an administration that wants to end government regulation, or if there may be another agenda. The President’s actions this week are adverse to American values and risk harming what was as of last week the best economy in the world.
