Harris for President

This letter to the editor, by John Gostovich, appeared in the Hudson Star Observer on September 26, 2024.

Along with 67 million other Americans, I watched the recent presidential candidate debate.

One candidate talked about her hope and optimism for our wonderful country and people, while the other spewed his angry doom and gloom.

One candidate described her proposals to bolster our national economy by building up small businesses and growing the middle class—a $50,000 tax cut for small businesses, a $6,000 child tax credit for infants, and $25,000 to help first time home buyers find a deposit—while the other obsessed about his rally crowd sizes.

One candidate outlined her practical plans to improve our lives by effectively addressing burdensome costs, while the other spit out his false stories about marauding migrants eating pets.

One candidate pledged to do her best to restore our personal freedoms to form our own families without big government intruding into our private lives, while the other took addled credit for revoking essential reproductive rights we had for fifty years.

One candidate spoke to us about her policies, while the other said he had the concepts of a plan.

One younger candidate saw us as all having much in common and promised to move our country forward beyond years of division, while the other aged candidate bitterly repeated a tired trove of lies about a failing nation.

This November 5th, vote for the one candidate who won this debate: Kamala Harris.
