Ego, Epstein and Elections (Iran War)

This letter to the editor, by Laurie Harmon, appeared in the Hudson Star Observer on March 5, 2026.

President Donald Trump’s brand new shiny war with Iran is a fear-fueled dementia nightmare, with ego, Epstein and elections as the guiding forces.

He’s running scared and we are all paying the ultimate price. First, his ego is wounded, in large part because his approval rating is lower than any president’s in modern history. Next, folks investigating the Epstein files are hot on his heels with some deeply damning information about him sexually and physically abusing a 13-year-old girl. Leaders from around the world are being arrested and/or resigning from their powerful positions. Finally, he realizes he’s in very real danger of impeachment if the midterms overturn the Republican’s majority in Congress.

His trifecta of fear had become so big, so unmanageable and so confusing to his demented mind, that his impulsive, childish, toddler brain, led him to “throw his toys” in anger. Just like the impetuous infant that he is, he “threw” a unilateral, reckless and grossly unjustified attack on Iran. Oh, he had an excuse. He claimed that Iran was developing nuclear weapons and planning to strike the U.S. with ballistic missiles. Experts, however, have overwhelmingly insisted this statement is false. No impending threat or sense of immediacy existed. Until he bombed them first.

Even if he had been legitimately concerned, his constitutionally required next step was to ask Congress to declare war. Trump, though, believes he answers to no one, least of all a group with Democrats in the mix.

The U.S. and Israel government’s airstrikes killed Iran’s supreme leader, and bombed a school, which killed over 50 children in their classrooms. Trump has caused irreparable damage and there’s no telling what Iran will do next.

America, if you didn’t think he was dangerous before, you have just been slapped with a cold reality. Just how far is the Republican party willing to follow him in his descent down this rabbit hole?

As citizens, we can take action by calling our representatives, expressing our outrage and demanding that they impeach Trump. Now. For we are all in serious danger.
