Climate Initiatives under Governor Tony Evers
Climate Change Action: Evers has prioritized addressing climate change by setting goals to reduce carbon emissions and increase renewable energy usage in Wisconsin. His administration has implemented policies to support clean energy development and transition away from fossil fuels.
Clean Water Initiatives: Evers has focused on protecting and improving water quality across the state. This includes measures to prevent pollution, invest in infrastructure for clean water, and address contamination issues in communities.
In the last budget cycle of July 2023, Governor Evers allocated $125 million for comprehensive PFAS testing, mitigation across Wisconsin’s communities. The current Joint Finance Committee and Wisconsin Legislature have not released the monies despite Governor Evers’ repeated requests.
Environmental Conservation: The governor has advocated for the preservation of natural habitats and ecosystems in Wisconsin. His administration has supported initiatives to conserve land, protect endangered species, and promote sustainable land management practices.
Renewable Energy Expansion: Evers has promoted the expansion of renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydroelectric power. This includes incentives for renewable energy projects and policies to encourage investment in clean energy technologies.

Evers signed Executive Order #38, which established the state goal of ensuring all electricity consumed within the state is 100 percent carbon-free by 2050. In signing Executive Order #38, Gov. Evers also created the Office of Sustainability and Clean Energy, charged with developing the Wisconsin Clean Energy Plan
