Vote in the Midterms

This letter to the editor, by Pam Fricke, appeared in the Hudson Star Observer on October 29, 2026.

Our midterm general election on Nov. 3 is too important to skip!

Across Wisconsin, voters will choose our governor and lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state and state treasurer, and we’ll vote on three proposed amendments to our state constitution. We’ll also choose our U.S. House member and our state legislators, and our local communities may have items on the ballot too.

In the 2022 midterm general election, only about 60% of eligible Wisconsin voters cast a ballot. That means 4 out of 10 didn’t vote.

Please learn about what’s on your Nov. 3 ballot, and vote! At MyVote.wi.gov, click “What’s On My Ballot” to see a sample ballot, or click “My Voter Info” to check your registration.

If you’re not yet registered, you can register in person at your municipal clerk’s office through Friday, Oct. 30, or at your polling place on Nov. 3. MyVote.wi.gov lists your clerk’s office and polling place.

You can vote absentee in person at your municipal clerk’s office until as late as Nov. 1, depending on the office’s hours.

If you received an absentee ballot by mail, your properly completed ballot must reach your municipal clerk by mail or personal delivery by 8 p.m. Nov. 3 to be counted.

Or you can vote at your polling place on Nov. 3. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and if you’re in line by 8 p.m., you may still vote.

Your vote matters! Use it wisely.
