Volunteers and Voters

Volunteers and voters Wisconsin continues to lead the nation in running fair, secure elections. I voted in Boardman, Wis. Despite a full parking lot, the election officials worked efficiently and professionally, keeping wait times short. Thank you to everyone in Boardman and across the state who made this possible.
Voters turned out in force — 500,000 more than in the last state Supreme Court race. They saw through tens of millions of dollars in negative ads aimed at Susan Crawford and voted on the issues.
Candidates deserve thanks, too. Running for office is hard — especially when elections feel like ideological warfare. School board races used to be nonpartisan. The goal was to find people who care about children and how best to educate them.
Many good people still want to serve but hesitate, fearing personal attacks. We need them to step up anyway. We can’t let bullies and intimidation win.
This spring, Wisconsin showed the nation how democracy works. Thanks to the voters and volunteers who made it happen.
