There Are No Kings
This letter to the editor, by Kerry Kittel, appeared in the Hudson Star Observer on June 19, 2025.
I was proud to attend Hudson’s No Kings Day on Saturday. It was a gathering of like-minded patriots who believe, as I do, that patriotism is based on loyalty to our country and the great principles that America was founded on. True American patriots know that it is their duty to protest whenever elected leaders ignore both the Constitution and the rule of law.
I loved the energy, enthusiasm, and heartfelt concern for America that was on full display. Speakers ranged from about 8 to 86 years of age, with many of them sharing personal stories questioning the direction in which our nation is heading. One of my favorite moments was when a young lady delivered an amazing acapella version of a song from Les Miserables.
I also wish to thank members of the Hudson Police Department who were present to see that people were able to deliver peaceful messages in a safe environment. That has not been the case in other cities where protests have been held.
It is correct to call the people attending No Kings Day protestors. Don’t forget to also call them protectors. They chose to exercise free speech and assembly rights in order to protect all of the rights guaranteed in the constitution, and also to defend the rule of law in America. Congratulations on a great event, and thanks for helping to protect our nation.
