Medicare Cuts Betray Our Trust

Medicare cuts betray our trust As seniors, many of us have paid into the Medicare system for 50 years or more. But, thanks to the Republican’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” we may get nothing in return. U.S. Congressman Tom Tiffany voted for this bill. He is in favor of these cuts. It is a betrayal of our trust.
This Republican bill will drastically cut Medicare (not just Medicaid) according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO). The bill will add $3.9 trillion to the national deficit between 2026 and 2034 triggering an automatic reduction in Medicare support every year. This is because the Pay-As-You-Go Act (PAYGO) requires an automatic cut to Medicare when the Federal deficit reaches a certain level — the level it will reach because of this bill. Social Security is exempt from PAYGO, but not Medicare. The cuts to Medicare will mean more out-ofpocket medical expenses for seniors, even a total loss of Medicare benefits. The Kiplinger Report estimates a $500 billion loss of Medicare support over eight years.
Tom Tiffany supports this bill. The new version will add even more to the deficits. So, Medicare will be cut and billionaires will get their huge tax break.
Contact Tom Tiffany (715- 298-9344) ask him to make Medicare exempt from PayGo, just like Social Security already is.
