Drawdown Would Bring More Algae

This letter to the editor, by Joyce Santo, appeared in the Hudson Star Observer on July 2, 2026.

I walk along the Hudson waterfront and on the dike road on a regular basis. The last thing I want to see is more algae in the north bay or near the swimming beach. Local governments need to protect these areas and stop the proposal to flush additional algae growing phosphorus from Lake Mallalieu into Lake St. Croix.
